Tutorial Data Modeling in SQL Power Architect – part. 1 Installation of software

For creating logical or phisical data models is used special software. One is SQL Power Architect, delivered also as Community edition, free to use.

It is very useful and easy to use the tool. It allows you design any database data model phisical or logical and convert it in SQL script or concrete database in any database system like Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server. This softwareallows also transform ready database to the logical or phisical model. You can also transform the database from one database engine to another.

In this part we start with installation.

First go to the website of this project

Click the COMMUNITYtab. You see the link Download. Click it.

From the list of different edition, choose this free by clicking onFREE DOWNLOAD.

Now you see the list of links for available OSs. Click the link Download. I choose Windows system.

The window appears with the question if you want to save the installation file. Click Save file if you do.

The file with format .jar will be download.

This software required JVM. However the last edition is not enough. Now the 13 version is last, but SQL Power Architect requires 7 or 8 version of Java. therefor it is good to prepare this version Java before the installation of SQL Power Architect.

Now you can run The installator SQL power Architect. First you see Welcome window: 

Click the Next.  In next step you see licence to accept, click theI accept ...

Click on the button Next. The default path to the installation will be seen.

Click theBrowse to change it. my is Desktop path with any folder I written. Of course, on my Desktop isn’t this folder, it will be creating.

Click the Next. You see message window about creating new flder for installation files.

Click the button OK. In next step you see progress of the installation:

If you see Finished, click the button Next.

And another Next.

At the end click the button Done.

Now go to the folder contains installation software:

Run file architect, and you will see Welcome window, you can close it:
